Checking my notes, I find that it has been stormy the last three Thursdays - I wonder if that is a February thing as this coming Thursday is the beginning of March. Will it come in like a lion or a lamb? Rev. John's sermon was titled "A Logical End to a Self -Centred Life." As last Wednesday was Ash Wednesday, this Sunday was the first Sunday in Lent. A Lenten presentation was given by David and Grant Bolton about Judas and the 30 pieces of silver. Greeters collectors were Jim and Ruth Axtmann. After the service, a delicious brunch was served - complete with ham and eggs, hash browns and fruit. In charge were Karen and John Braecher and Connie and Brian Alcock and their families. Next brunch is March 25. All are welcome. Lindsay McNichol was home for a study week from Lakehead University in Thunder Bay. She reported very little snow, but quite cold. Don and Maja Dodds along with Pat Saundercock of Clinton attend- ed the Syngenta 4-H Ontario Banquet and Arbour Awards pre- sentation at Waterloo Inn, Waterloo Saturday evening. Jim and Ann Bosman have returned from a trip to Arizona and area. They flew out of Detroit to Phoenix. They visited several points in southern Arizona, including Tombstone where they witnessed gunfights Wyatt Earp -style, Yuma walking across the border into Mexico where they could purchase things from medica- tions to dentist work, etc. Temperature`s in these areas were in the 70s and 80s Fahrenheit. On their way north they crossed into California to a place called Blythe. Going further north they stopped at Lake Havasu City for a couple of days. They both enjoyed this stop. Still heading north they tried their luck at Lauglin, just inside the Nevada border. From there, they travelled on Route 66 to the Grand Canyon and on to Flagstaff where they encoun- tered snow.
