While Ben Lobb has been acclaimed as the Conservative can- didate for the Huron -Bruce MP's seat, the former warden of Huron County and mayor of South Huron, Robert Morley has announced he is seeking the nomination for the Huron -Bruce Provincial Progressive Conservative Party. For Morley, 2006 was his time to reflect on his future in politics. He chose not to run in last fall's munic- ipal elections after serving the peo- ple of Usborne Township, South Huron and the County of Huron. According to current South Huron Mayor Ken Oke in a press release from Morley, "Rob did an incredible job as mayor. It was only a matter of time in my mind before he would return to politics." "Having been in municipal poli- tics for 18 years, I have been work- ing with MPPs and provincial gov- ernment staff members to advance the interests of the people in South Huron and Huron County. Making the move to provincial politics lever- ages all that experience I have gained for the benefit of the people of Huron -Bruce," stated Morley in the press release. Ben Lobb is ready to take another run at the MP's seat for Huron - Bruce. A Conservative Party of Canada nomination day originally set for Feb. 24 has been cancelled as Lobb was acclaimed by the Huron -Bruce Electoral District Association. "I am honoured to have the oppor- tunity to represent this riding in the next election and will continue to work hard to enable all of our constituents to have their voices heard in Ottawa," said Lobb. "We had a great measure of suc- cess in the last election and we are looking to sig- nificantly improve upon those results in the next elec- The Huron Expositor and These Seaforth & Area Businesses are pleased to announce these Valentine's Day Draw go Blooms 'n' Rooms - KURT BEUERMAN, Seaforth - Fresh Cut Floral Bouquet r Archie's Service Centre - ANDREA STEVENSON, Seaforth - Oil Change r Janet's Country Donut Cafe - JEANETTE CONNOLLY, Seaforth - Breakfast for 2 r Seaforth Automotive - JULIE CAMPBELL, Seaforth - Diecast Miniature r Sills Home Hardware - BARB DALGLIESH, Clinton - Conair Hair Dryer M Nifty Korners - LILLIAN WATSON, Clinton - A Gift Certificate r Anna's Dress Shoppe —BETTY ANNE JOHNSTON, - $20.00 Gift Certificate g► Tucker's Meat Shop - DEB BENNEWIES, Seaforth - A Ham go The Looking Glass - JOHN VINCENT, Seaforth - One Dozen Tanning Sessions r Wong's Grill - TREVOR SOMERVILLE, Seaforth - Dinner for 2 Cardno's Men's & Ladies Wear - TRACY LEE, Egmondville - $20.00 Gift Certificate r Box Furniture & Floor Coverings - MARY TUERK, New Hamburg - $50 Gift Certificate go Seaforth Jewellers - FRAN HOOK, Egmondville - 10k Diamond Heart Pendant r Majestic Salon & Spa - JOY ROSS, Seaforth - Gift Baskot Thank You to all the participants in our Valentine's Day Promotion. Wearing helmets while tobogganing is `reasonable' From Page 5 basis alone, wearing of such equipment is worth it. You obviously agree as you indicate that wearing of such is "mandatory" for your family. So your con- cern is the government making it mandatory. I ask what is the difference in between you mak- ing it mandatory for your family or the government doing so? I don't see any except the government can be more forceful about it. Second, we here in Canada have a public health system. I believe that the public, through our elect- ed representatives are obligated to take reasonable measures to keep costs down. While, banning such activities is not considered "reasonable," I believe that imposing a requirement to protect yourself while performing these activities, is. If an individual chooses not to comply, then make them pay for any resultant injuries themselves. End of problem! For the first time, parents could tell their child - boy or girl - that they can grow up one day and become president of the United States. And it might even bring hope to the rest of the coun- try's minorities, that one day their children might live free of the alienation that they've surely had to deal with. Electing a woman or African American as the next president would represent a huge nod of acceptance never before seen in the United States. And as the most influential nation in the world, its impact on the rest of us could be the greatest benefit of all.
