Proposed subdivision aims
to build `affordable' housing
From Page 1
R2 zoning would allow anything from single
dwellings to quadplexes.
Campbell says the proposed subdivision
will include single family dwellings, semi-
detached houses and triplexes.
She adds that a small section of land, from
the existing stone gateway to Highway 8, will
remain as green space.
The proposed plan of
subdivision shows two
streets, Buller and
Roberts Streets coming
off of Market Street. It

Barnim says the for-
mer public school build-
ing will be demolished.
"We've looked at the
building and it's of no
use. It would cost a lot
to bring it to standard
and it takes up 10 of
the building lots the
way it sits," he says.
Campbell points out
that the public school
building has been van-
dalized many times
since the school closed.
"It's not a safe envi-
ronment and it will just
rot on perfectly good
land," she says.
However, she says
something is being
planned to allow those
who attended the for-
mer school to say good-
bye before the demoli-
tion.
"There will be a lot of
people sad to see it go
down," she says.
Barnim says Campbell will be selling the
lots.
"She says she's gotten a ton of interest
already," says Barnim.
Campbell says she's excited that the pro-
posed subdivision will create more housing
for seniors and families in Seaforth.
"We could use the lots. There are no lots left
in Seaforth but there are tons of buyers look-
ing for newer houses in town. Look at the rev-
enue it's going to bring to town," she says.
As well, she says, the proposed subdivision
will provide opportunities for local builders.
