Sunday started
off snowy but
cleared off and the
rest of the day was partially sunny.
Rev. John's sermon at Cavan
United Church was titled "God
Calls Us to Respond" based on the
prophet Jeremiah.
Greeters and collectors were
Diane and Calvin Flood.
Sunday, Feb. 4 is the last date to
vote for a new elder. Cavan's Annual
Meeting is on Sunday, Feb. 11.
Service is at 11 a.m. and Northside's
is at 9:30. Both churches please note
the time switch.
A delicious soup and sandwich
luncheon was served after the ser-
vice. Paul Dodds and Carolann and
Brian Campbell were in charge.
These are fundraisers for the board
More than $1,000 raised at walk
Queensway residents, staff and
volunteers were pleased to raise
more than $1,000 for the Huron
County Alzheimer Society when
they took part in the Annual Walk
For Memories at South Huron
District High School on Saturday,
Jan. 27.
Auxiliary volunteer Iva Reid for
raised more than half of the total
pledges.
Volunteers Krista and Liz Ihrig
were in Monday for baking group
and baked scones using Krista's
Hessenland recipe and scones using
the Queensway Cookbook recipe.
There was a lot of taste testing of
warm scones and butter with tea as
the group tried to decide their pref-

afternoon as they whiled away near-
ly two hours playing their favourite
game.
Musicians Harvey Smith with his
guitar, Don Finkbeiner on piano,
Devon Martene and his violin,
Harold Mills with accordion and
Ivan Norris on the banjo provided a
great variety of music at the month-
ly birthday party Thursday evening
Resident council met Friday
morning to discuss upcoming events
and everyone is looking forward to
the Valentine's Party at 2 p.m. on
Feb. 14 sponsored by the Hensall
Legion with "Lil Audrey"- perform-
ing.

Mike and Julie Campbell recently
returned from a trip to Cancun,
Mexico. They report having a won-
derful time.
Recently the "Winthrop Council"
met for a banquet meeting. The
wives were also present. After a
delicious meal which included a
birthday cake for one of the wives,
the men discussed the latest busi-
ness at hand and any new events
which may take place in the near
future. Due to the colder tempera-
tures any lengthy meetings have
moved indoors.

Jack and Dawna Durst are pleased to announce
the graduation of their daughter, Cara, from the
University of Guelph where she received her
Bachelor of Applied Science degree. Cara
completed her Dietetic Internship at Grand River
Hospital, Kitchener, in 2006. She is now employed
there as a Registered Dietitian. Congratulations
Cara from grandparents Bill and Jean Durst
and Amelda Reynolds.
