At a news conference on Jan. 25,
the Western Ontario Athletic
Association announced plans to
build a headquarters for the organi-
zation administering minor and
senior hockey and softball in mid-
western Ontario. The new head-
quarters will be located on Albert
Street in Wingham, behind the new
Libro Credit Union.
WOAA president Dave Black said
the new headquarters will include
offices for staff, a board room and a
lower level for larger league meet-
ings, clinics and workshops.
"We have an excellent group of
committee members and volunteers
helping to make this possible," said
Gary Gravett, of Goderich, fundrais-
ing campaign chair.
Gravett announced the goal of
$347,000 for the building, lot, fur-
nishings, landscaping and fundrais-
ing administration. He said that
over the past several years, $80,000
had been raised for the project.
Thanks to additional contribu-
tions, the fundraising total is up to
$120,000 or 34 per cent of the goal.
The objective is to have the building
completely paid off by the end of
2009.
Therefore, the
WOAA is look-
ing for public
