HomeMy WebLinkAboutHuron Expositor, 2007-01-31, Page 25Sports WOAA looking for help funding new Wingham office The Huron Expositor • January 31, 2007 Page 25 Sara Bender SEMEMBEED At a news conference on Jan. 25, the Western Ontario Athletic Association announced plans to build a headquarters for the organi- zation administering minor and senior hockey and softball in mid- western Ontario. The new head- quarters will be located on Albert Street in Wingham, behind the new Libro Credit Union. WOAA president Dave Black said the new headquarters will include offices for staff, a board room and a lower level for larger league meet- ings, clinics and workshops. "We have an excellent group of committee members and volunteers helping to make this possible," said Gary Gravett, of Goderich, fundrais- ing campaign chair. Gravett announced the goal of $347,000 for the building, lot, fur- nishings, landscaping and fundrais- ing administration. He said that over the past several years, $80,000 had been raised for the project. Thanks to additional contribu- tions, the fundraising total is up to $120,000 or 34 per cent of the goal. The objective is to have the building completely paid off by the end of 2009.
