with sexual
assault
A 13 -year-old Huron
County boy has been
charged with sexual
assault.
Huron OPP were
called to a primary
school in Huron
County on Jan. 19 and
told that a younger
student had been
assaulted. The
investigation was
completed on Jan. 26.
The 13 -year-old male
youth will appear in
Goderich court to
answer the charge.

Minor sports
groups bring
arena concerns
to council

Soft and slow ice, gaps and holes in the
boards and floors, messy washrooms and
dressing rooms and not enough ice time are
among the complaints to Huron East council
from three minor sports associations about the
Seaforth arena.
A letter from the Seaforth Minor Hockey
Association, Seaforth Ringette and Seaforth
Broomball outlined a number of concerns last
week to council.
"Over the last few years, our groups have
seen a steady decline in the facilities at the
Seaforth and District Community Centre," said
the letter.
Concerns about the ice centre around the ice
temperature being set at a higher temperature
than in past years, with water on the ice that
doesn't freeze 30 to 40 minutes after a flood.
"Ice conditions present a huge safety concern
for all user groups," said the letter.
The letter also questions why the heaters are
not turned on for games, disputing the idea
that ice condition is affected by the heaters.
"As the primary users of this ice, we can tell
you this ice is soft and in poor condition for
other reasons, not as a result of the heaters,"
said the letter.
The three associations said in the letter that
the heaters being turned on could bring more
spectators to the games.
The letter also complains about the garbage
left in dressing rooms and fingerprints on the
