Seaforth's midget girls struggled to find the net throughout their three games, yet kept each game close with solid defensive play. In their opener, the girls lost 1-0 to Palmerston and dropped their second game 3-0 to Blyth. In their final game, the girls lost again 1-0 to Palmerston. "Overall the girls played great," commented coach Tanya Costello. "It just seemed the other teams were more physical ...and we're not a physical team." Costello added that although the girls were not able to score a goal, they had their chances. "Everyone played their A game and stepped it up, and that will definitely help us when we go to the provin- cials." Seaforth's peewees came away from Mildmay with a record of:2-1, yet failed to make the semi finals after finishing round-robin play tied with two other teams. The peewees opened the tournament with a 2-0 win over Palmerston. Seaforth was led by goals from Bridget O'Reilly and Scott Parsons. In their second game, the peewees lost to the Mildmay Green team 3-0, before finishing out round- robin play with a 2-0 win over Mildmay's Red team. Austin Henry and Bridget O'Reilly netted the goals. Based on point differential and the outcome of their game against the Mildmay Green team, Seaforth did not advance. "It was certainly a disap- pointment to not advance to the semi-finals for this pee- wee team, but they should be very proud of how well they played throughout the tournament," said coach Steve Hulshof. Seaforth's bantams played to a 1-2 record at what coach Mike Regier called "a difficult tournament." Isaac Klaver contributed two goals and Scott Forde one, as the bantams opened the tournament on the Saturday with a 3-0 win over Palmerston. However, on Sunday the bantams dropped both affairs - 2-1 in overtime to Mildmay and 1-0 to Palmerston. Kaleb Arts scored Seaforth's sole goal of the day. "They played really good on Saturday, but not so good Upcoming Jeff Heuchert For the first time recent organizers can remember, the Seaforth broomball tour- nament will not be held in Seaforth, but rather in Susan Hundertmark photo Ryan Finnie, of Seaforth's boys' midget broomball team, gets set to drive the ball during action against Innisfil at the Mildmay tournament this past weekend. The midget boys won the game 4- 0. on Sunday," said coach Mike Regier. "But they still put up a good fight." The last of Seaforth's teams to participate was the midget boys, which despite outscoring their opponents 6-2, won only one of three games. Coach Alvin Dow said his team played well, but just couldn't seem to beat the team they've had success against already this season in regular season play. "Earlier we've beat (Mildmay) both times in the regular season," said Dow. "I guess it was their turn." The midget boys played to a 0-0 tie against Mildmay in the opener, before scoring four goals in a 4-0 win over Innisfil. Matt Forsyth scored two, while Ryan Finnie and Shawn Dow netted one each. For their third game, the midget boys played Mildmay again - this time Mildmay came out on top 3- 2.
