THOUGHT FOR TODAY

In a garden during summer,
At a fireside during winter,
And whatever the day or season,
In the kind eyes of a friend.

Happy Valentine's Day everyone.
January finally produced some snow. It reminds us
that it is winter time although it was still very mild out.
Some of our residents took advantage of this weather
and got out for short walks and rides on their scooters.
We continue to enjoy the readings and hymn sings
with Fred and Grace Munnings. Our physio classes are
going great three times a week. It seems that this is our
most enjoyable and very popular program.
Some of the events that were enjoyed by the residents
last month were Diner's Club and Dance, uptown
errands, Diner's Club with Wally De Wolfe, Baking with
Vicki, bingo every Friday, Pub Night and Movie Night
every Saturday.
Unofficial council gathering in Winthrop
After very little snow this
season so far, we seem to be
getting a little with more pre-
dicted.
MMISIZEID
Rev. John conducted the regular service at
Cavan United Church. Title of the sermon
was "Finding Hope Amid Ashes and Ruin."
Jim Rapson has served his five-year term as
elder. Nominations for a new elder will be
held Jan. 21, 28 and Feb. 4. Any Cavan mem-
ber in good standing is eligible for nomina-
tion.
Doug and Gail Schroeder were the greeters
and collectors.
Cavan Board of Stewards held a meeting
recently where the budget and several upcom-
ing events were planned. The first brunch of
the season will be on Jan. 28 after the 9:30
a.m. service.
The Seaforth Novice Ringette Team played
in a tournament in Stratford this past week-
end and brought home the "gold." Members of
this team from Winthrop
area include Kim and Amy
Alcock and Allison (a.k.a.
Peanut) Braecker.
If anyone notices a group of men gathering
at the Winthrop store area, this is the unoffi-
cial council of Winthrop. If any passerby wish=
es to join the group or has an issue to discuss,
feel free to contact any local member.
Dennis Dolmage had the misfortune to
break his ankle recently. He is quickly learn-
ing the fine art of navigating with crutches.
Ross and Joyce, Brad, Tyler, Brooke, Cheryl
Ribey and Pat Coyne recently flew to Florida.
While there they visited Disney World, Sea
World, Magic Kingdom, an alligator farm and
an orange grove. Ross reported warm weather
and no rain - all in all a great trip.
FOOD FOR THOUGHT
Worry wastes today's time cluttering tomor-
row's opportunities with yesterday's troubles.
