While she was a little concerned about
the traditionally snowy and blustery
weather of January when she realized her
baby was due in January, Monique Wijnsma
says this year's green Christmas and New
Year's were more than welcome.
"I was worried about having to get to the
hospital in January but we didn't even have
winter here by the time Shawn was born,"
says Wijnsma, who lives at RR 4 Walton.
She and her husband Dirk's secondborn
son, born Jan. 7, is the Huron Expositor's
New Year's baby.
Shawn Wijnsma, younger brother to two -
and -a -half -year-old Evan, was born at
Clinton Public Hospital two days before his
due date.
He was eight pounds, eight ounces at
birth.
"The night Shawn was born, I went to my
room and saw the snow was lightly coming
down and I thought, 'Now it can come,'"
says Monique.

Huron East council is
working with the Seaforth
Community Development
Trust to provide
accommodations for the
Huron Family Health Team
(FHT) in Seaforth.
After debating the issue in
closed session, council passed
a motion at its Jan. 9 meeting
saying it would work with the
trust to find a location for the
FHT in a facility tailored to
meet the FHT's needs.
The move was applauded by
a group of spectators
including Seaforth Local
Advisory Committee (LAC)
members Rudy Jansen and
Tony Vanden Hengel and
Seaforth Community
Development Trust member
Maureen Agar.
Deputy -Mayor Bernie
MacLellan said the town and
the Seaforth trust would be
looking at the possibility of
either renovating the existing
medical clinic or building a
separate facility on one of two
parcels near the hospital.
He said the town owns land
