Year in Review Council urges for repairs to highway October, 2006 The Egmondville post office will reopen Monday, Oct. 16 at Seaforth Mini Storage at 30 Mill Road. But, Egmondville residents may not actually be receiving their mail there. The Egmondville community is being asked to choose between receiving mail at the Mini Storage building and community mailboxes at Elizabeth Park on Bayfield Street for free delivery. Huron County council is sending a letter to the Ministry of Transportation Ontario that is paved with good intentions. That decision came Thursday morning fol- lowing a presentation from Huron East's deputy mayor, Bernie MacLellan. MacLellan asked council to write a letter in support of Huron East's request to have MTO fix the stretch of Highway 8 from Seaforth and Mitchell as it is in dire need of repair. With the purchase of a $125,000 parcel of land from Evelyn Querengesser, Seaforth may have solved its water problems. Tenders have gone out for the drilling of a production well on the site, which must still be tested for quality and quantity, says Huron East Administrator Jack McLachlan. A 20 -acre parcel of industrial land has been purchased by Huron East for $125,000 at the end of Railway Street. Originally owned by Ray Consitt, the parcel was bought by Dan Lambert, of Sun North and sold to Huron East. It wasn't until Carol Leeming began learn- ing about renewable power and wind energy through an agriculture leadership course in Guelph that she, along with her husband Bob, started to seriously consider putting up a wind turbine on their Front Road farm near Seaforth.
