Opinion
The Huron Expositor • January 1, 2007 Page 5
Seaforth native shares fond Have an
holiday memories with poem opinion?
As my quiet northern forest fills up
with falling snow...
My heart goes back in memory to
Christmas long ago...
I see again our tall pine tree that
magic, holy, night
All decked with silver tinsel and
coloured Christmas lights....
The presents and the toys are piled
beneath the tree....
And the scent of roasted turkey
drifts from the old pantry....
We gather close to mother, as she
sits down to sing
And around the old piano our
happy voices ring....
We sing the songs of Christmas, the
carols and the hymns....
Then all to soon the night is o'er
and mother says "Turn in"....
Then soft she comes to kiss us and
bid us each "Good night"....
And off we go to dreamland, in the
glow of Christmas lights....
So as my quiet northern forest fills
up with falling snow....
My heart goes back in memory to
Christmas long ago....
And the dreams I dreamt in child-
hood, I'll dream again tonight...
In my quiet northern forest, in the
glow of Christmas lights.

Egmondville considers incorporating with
Seaforth into one municipality in 1907
DECEMBER 30, 1881
Peter McEwen of Seaforth had to
pay $18 express charges on 10
deers which he brought with him
from Muskoka. This will make
pretty dear venison.
In his Christmas meat display,
George Ewing of Seaforth had one
monstrous turkey which weighed
25 pounds when dressed.
Andrew Govenlock of Winthrop is
at present erecting a sawmill'
directly to the northwest and in the
rear of his flour and gristing mill.
It is rumoured in this vicinity
that Dr. Gouinlock contemplates
erecting a sawmill in the vicinity of
his extensive swamp where he has
a large quantity of logs cut and to
be cut.
James McEwing formerly of
Tuckersmith has now taken up his
abode in Egmondville. He occupies
the residence recently vacated by
David Sproat.
JANUARY 4, 1907
There is some talk of
Egmondville being incorporated
with Seaforth, making one munici-
pality.
W.J. Moffatt, who has been man-
ager of the rink in Seaforth for the
past year has resigned and W.
Ament has been appointed as his
successor.
Messrs. Chesney and Smiley, who
have been engaged in the hardware
business here for the past few
years have dissolved partnership.
Mr. Chesney has purchased Mr.
Smiley's interest and will conduct
the business himself.
Robert Willis of Seaforth has pur-
chased the boot and shoe business
of W.H. Willis and together with
his son James will conduct the
business while W.H. Willis will
devote his entire time to the manu-
facturing.
JANUARY 1, 1932
There will only be a contest for

DECEMBER 30, 1981
The contribution of a Seaforth
dentist, who for nearly 10 years
was responsible for a series of sum-
mer band concerts in Victoria Pak,
was recongnized last week when
Seaforth Council named Dr.
Charles Toll "Citizen of the Year."
Three people received minor
injuries, and estimated damages
totalled $4,500 as a result of a colli-
sion between a pickup truck and
car at about noon Sunday, on
Huron County Road 3 at conces-
sions 3 and 4 of Tuckersmith
Township.
More than 100 friends and rela-
tives helped Mrs. Jean Wilson cele-
brate her 90th birthday at the new
auditorium in Huronview in
Clinton Sunday afternoon.
Susan Dunlop was restless.
Wanting a change in scenery and
job, she has declined returning to
her job at Van Egmond House to
wok in Rhondesia, on the continent
of Africa.
