Brussels man, 22, faces 15 charges after cruisers rammed A 22 -year-old Brussels man faces 15 charges after fleeing police on Dec. 3 at approximately 12:30 a.m. Huron OPP were conduaing a R.I.D.E. cam- paign in Goderich when a 1990 Grand Prix failed to stop at a stop sign on Bruce Street and travelled away at a high rate of speed. An officer activated his emergency lights but the car failed to stop and sped through several posted stop signs. The driver lost control of the vehicle on Maple Street. Three Huron OPP cruisers attempted to pin the vehicle but the driver rammed the cruis- ers, causing minor damage. No injuries were reported. Five people were located in the vehicle and arrested. A 36 -year-old Goderich man, facing the charge of failing to comply with an undertak- ing, is scheduled to attend court on March 5. The 22 -year-old Brussels man is charged with one count of flight from a police officer, one count of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, two counts of assault with a weapon and five counts of mischief under $5,000. Also he faces one count of impaired opera- tion of motor vehicle, one count of driving a motor vehicle with more than 80 mg. of alco- hol, one count of driving disqualified, one count of breach of probation, one count of pos- session of property obtained by crime and one count of operating a motor vehicle without insurance. ATV stolen in Seaforth An all -terrain vehicle was stolen from the garage of a Charlotte Street residence in Seaforth on Dec. 4 between 1:30 and 7 a.m., reports the Huron OPP. Thieves forced their way into the garage and stole a 1977 Honda Fourtrax ATV. The "ATV was later recovered a short distance from the residence. Anyone with related information is asked to call the Huron OPP or Crime Stoppers. Huron OPP stop 1,355 vehicles during Festive RIDE checks Huron OPP stopped 1,355 vehicles during its Festive RIDE (Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere) spot checks over the weekend. Officers issued three roadside tests, which resulted in two 12 -hour suspensions being issued. Officers also laid six charges under the Liquor License Act, two charges under the Highway Traffic Act and one charge under the Controlled Substance Act. This year's Festive RIDE (Reduce Impaired' Driving Everywhere) campaign began last week and will continue until Jan. 2, 2007. Last year, during the five-week initiative, OPP officers stopped 576,875 vehicles at road- side checkpoints and charged 278 people with alcohol-related offences across the province. Also, a total of 671 12 -hour licence suspen- sions were issued. Officers also issued 270 of the 90 -day Administrative Drivers Licence Suspensions.
