Tree of Lights
campaign in 15th year
Jeff •Heuchert
This Sunday will mark the
Seaforth Community Hospital
Auxiliary's 15th year running its
Tree of Lights campaign, and
undoubtedly, the 15th year the com-
munity rallies around it.
"People in the community have
always supported us," says auxiliary
president Frances Teatero, adding
she is always amazed by everyone's
generosity.
"This is a small community. There
is only so much money," she says.
This year., the campaign is
fundrai'sing for an electronic bed
check for falls prevention," which
places an electronic beam around a
patient's bed, preventing them from
falling out, explains Teatero.
"It's actually quite new. We have a
lot of older patients and we felt it
would be a good thing to have. = It
will stop them (patients) from
falling and breaking something,"
she adds.
With a goal.. of $6,000, Teatero
says the auxiliary is confident they
will meet their target.
In just one day last week, Teatero
says they were able to raise $500.
While the new equipment costs
$7,000, Teatero says the auxiliary
has enough in their funds to cover
whatever is left of the cost after the,
fundraising.
Each ticket sold in the campaign
will represent an individual bulb,
which will help illuminate the
spruce tree on the hospital's front
lawn this Sunday evening at 7 p.m.
There will be quartet performing
outside, homemade cookies and hot
mulled cider beginning at 6:30 p.m.,
followed. by. a draw for a Christmas
basket.
And, for all the kids, jolly old
Saint Nick will also be in atten-
dance.
Tickets cost $5 and can be pur-
chased either at the hospital switch-
board or through any of the hospital
auxiliary members.
They are available after the Tree
of Lights campaign, right up until
Christmas.
Last year the auxiliary raised
around $6,000, which went towards
purchasing occupational therapeutic
equipment.
Group plan to promote
calendar in London, Wingham
From Page 11
One of two to pose for the calendar
without a child at the children's cen-
tre, Susie Raczkevi, of Seaforth,
says since the calendar was
released, she's had several mothers
tell her they would have liked to
pose for it had they known.
Wanting to. raise as much money
as possible for the children's centre,
a group of women from the calendar
are filling their schedules, hitting
the road to promote the calendar.
They will be walking in the
Seaforth Santa Claus parade this
Friday, handing out balloons with

They are also planning a night in
London to tour the bars and a stop
at the radio station in Wingham to
promote the calendar.
A website is also in the works.
Doyle adds they expect to make
most of their sales to fathers in and
around town.
The Yummy Mummies 2007 calen-
dar costs $20 and can be purchased
at Tucker's Meat Shop, Main Street

featured inside it.
