"I like being arourid people. There are so many terrific people around and it enriches life to get to know them," says this .year's winner of the Seaforth Citizenship award. for Humanitarian efforts. Ribey, who's worked ` at the Seaforth hospital for 29 years as a unit clerk, spends her days working at the nurses' station and interact- ing with patients. And, while looking after people is part of her job, Ribey does it in a "very caring way" and "is always willing to give of her time," says her nominating letter. Ribey is "thoughtful, kind, a great friend, neighbour and co-worker and always goes out of her way to have patients as comfortable as they can be," says the letter. Helping out with the patients in the hospital, Ribey says she's noticed over the years that doing the "simplest thing" for someone can improve their day. "Sometimes just a simple cup of tea can make someone's day. It's tough being in the hospital and you do what you can to make it all the more comfortable," she says.
