The' biggest prize cash -crop farm-

was pretty good.
That all

"You buy a
ticket to help
someone, but
you never really
expect it (to be
drawn)," says
Joe. "But mira-
cles do happen."
Joe recalls
the day they
purchased their
tickets and how
instead of pur-
chasing just one
they decided to
spend a little bit
more and pur-
chase a group of
three tickets for
$250.
And as it
would turn out,
it was the
Gibson's third
ticket that was
drawn.
And, the

Joe and Isobel Gibson, of RR 2 Seaforth, are surrounded by their. children Paul and
John on the left. and Elizabeth McGregor, Joanne Jewitt and granddaughter Kelly
Jewitt in front of the Ferrari they won in the Princess Margaret Hospital Foundation
Cash, Cars and Condos lottery last week.
Friday the 13th.
Joe says however, although they
have won the car, and the lottery
rules state they must take owner-
ship of it, friends around town
might not get to feast their eyes on
it for very long.
"We don't know (yet) what the
insurance will be on it," he says,
adding that he'll more than likely
look to sell the vehicle rather than
keep it.
It was Tuesday morning (Nov. 7),
when Joe received a call notifying
him they had won the car.
But the call wasn't from whom
you'd expect.
It was from their neighbour Ed
Bezaire, who was - watching
Breakfast Television at the time,
which aired the draw live and
announced the winners.
"He called me at 8, o'clock (a.m.)
and he said, 'you just won a car,'"
recalls Joe.
"I didn't believe him, but I hung
up the phone and it was ringing
again," he says. "It was them from
Toronto asking him if we could be
there by 1 (p.m.)."
"We were so rattled that our fami-
ly went with us to make sure we got

there safely," recalls Isobel.
After a small -presentation of the
key, the Gibsons were treated to a
ride in their new vehicle.
But, Joe says, they didn't have the
opportunity to drive their new
Ferrari themselves - which was
probably a good thing.
"It has 500 horse power and a
speedometer that reads up to 360
kilometres per hour. They were
probably smart to not let us ride it,"
he. jokes.
The ride itself though was quite
interesting, notes Isobel, who says
it was much different than when
she's riding around Seaforth in
either their Chrysler Grand
Caravan or Dodge Ram pickup
truck.
"Everyone stopped on the street,
wanting to see who the celebrity
was in the bright -coloured car," she
says, . adding that it's probably a
good thing they won't be able to
afford insurance on the car.
"I don't think I could afford the
speeding ticket," she jokes.
"I'd be afraid to get a scratch on
it," adds Joe.
The Gibson's ticket, along with
another drawn for $500,000, was
part of an early bird draw, while
draws for the remaining 40,698
prizes will be made Dec. 5.
Money raised through the tickets
goes towards cancer research at the
Princess Margaret Hospital.
Joe says anyone who might be
interested in purchasing the car,
can give him a call at 519-233-3229.
"We should be able to get enough
money (from selling the car) to keep
farming for another couple of
years," he says.
