Comedy a natural defence for
young Seaforth stand-up comic

-ing towards a career in stand-up.
"That first night was horrible.
I didn't bomb but I told terri-
ble ,jokes that were really
lame and hackneyed. But, I
did get a few laughs," he
recalls.
Since then, he's been trying
to get on stage as often as pos-
sible at open-mic nights from
Sunday to Thursday nights
and been taking whatever jobs
he can at booked shows on
Fridays and Saturdays.
So far, most gigs have been
making him $30 or $40 a
night but he says every perfor-
mance is "interesting and I
learn from it.".
While he's not making a liv-
ing at stand-up yet, he's get-
ting by with odd jobs at restau-
much thought. I'm lazy," he laughs.
Hes excited about the upcoming show in
London because he's hoping it will draw a
university or college -aged
crowd and possibly lead to
other venues with younger
audiences.
While he doesn't have
any concrete goals, like star-
ring in a sit-com or Saturday
Night Live, Mair says he'd
someday like to write for a
television show.
"It'd be better than
washing dishes," he says.
On Nov. 23, Mair joins
emcee Adam Christie, a pop-
ular comic from Toronto and
headliner Andrew Evans,
