the leaders in acquiring industrial
land for Seaforth.
"When I came on council, I
promised the people in Seaforth I'd
get more industry in Seaforth but
when I got on council, there was no
land to put industry on. Now we
have land and I feel I played a fairly

big part of that," he says.
While Maloney says he doesn't
have any particular vision of what
he'd like to accomplish •within the
next four years, there are a number
of council initiatives he'd like to see
through.
He wants to see a resolution to
Seaforth's search for an acceptable
and reliable water source and he'd
like to see council pursue the study
done on the land behind Seaforth
Community Hospital by promoting
the building of affordable housing
there.
As well, he'd like to see Vanastra's
recreation centre upgraded and
kept in good repair.

tre within 10 years but I don't see
that at all. I don't see a new rec cen-
tre in the cards," he says.
Also, Maloney says he's in favour.
of a "good building on Main Street"
for a library in Brussels.
"I'd like to preserve what's there
but it's up to an engineer to say if
we can or not," he says.
Maloney adds he'd like to see the
compost facility moved from
Harpurhey but remain close to
town, "maybe on the new land we
bought."
"We have to find a way of dealing
with it, maybe promote more com-
posting in people's backyards," he
says.
Maloney wants to see a golf cart
trail connecting the Bridges devel-
opment to Seaforth's downtown.
"I want to see all the stores open
on Main Street and all making
money," he says.
With discussion in Grey during
the past three years about deamal-
gamation, Maloney says he wants to
do what he can make every
ratepayer in the municipality proud
to be part of Huron East.
"Right now, it's not that. way," he
says.
At the county level, Maloney
wants to see Huron East receive
better representation.
"I was told Huron East is very
poorly represented at county coun-
cil. First of all, you have to attend
the meetings," he says, adding
Huron East has not been represent-
ed at 20 committee or council meet-
ings in the past three years.
He also wants to reduce the coun-
ty tax rate.
"Huron County is an awfully
expensive county and I'd like to see
it under better control if possible. I
don't know if there can be fat cut
out of it or not," he said.
Maloney says one of the biggest
challenges facing Huron East is
keeping the mill rates down.
"Whenever there can be money
saved, I intend to save it," he says.
