Oct. 15 is World Rural Women's Day and WTH will be holding an open house the following day to give the pub- lic a chance to learn more about the `work we do with rural women. Everyone is invited to our 45 West St. office in Goderich on Oct. 16 to help us cele- brate rural women in our communities. Join us from 2- ,5 p.m. for refreshments. Visitors to the open house will also get a chance to see the newly launched Rural Women Making Change (RWMC) website. RWMC is a, Community University Research Alliance (CURA) based out of the University of Guelph. World Rural Women's Day began at the UN Conference for Women in Beijing in September, 1995. Devoting a day to recognizing rural women was seen as a practi- cal way : to celebrate and sup- port the multiple roles of rural women who are mostly farmers and small entrepre- neurs.
