Tiger Dunlop's tomb is under
repair.
Huron County council got an
update on renovations of the
historic site Thursday at the
request of Ben Van Diepenbeek,
Reeve of the Municipality of
Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanosh.
Beth Ross, manager of cultural
services, reported a London-based
stonework company has been
approved to do the work at a cost of
ft $7,900 plus GST.
She noted the work should be
completed this fall.
When Goderich Mayor Deb a
Shewfelt asked if the work's
specifications were in line with a
historic restoration, Ross noted to b
be so the sound mortar would have
to match, which isn't possible in -
this case because much of it is p

Paging Joey
County councillors welcomed the
prime minister- of Turnberry
Central public school into its fold
Thursday.
Joey Stapleton was welcomed as
the page for the October meeting of
county council.
Morris-Turnberry Reeve Dorothy
Kelly introduced the youngster
whose hobbies include baseball,

Daniel was a page for the county
ast year.
The go-ahead
Huron County council approved a
eveloper's request to move ahead
with selling condo units at its 28 -
nit site in Stephen Zbwnship.
Coun. Bernie MacLellan (Huron
ast) questioned the approval
rocess given 28 units are being
eveloped on 4.4 acres.
Scott Tousaw, of the planning
epartment, noted the density is
of unusual given it is located in a
noted it wasn't because the count
could only confirm the correct dat
by uncovering the origina
tombstone, which would prove cos
prohibitive t the county.

The chairman of Huron County'
planning, agriculture and publi

Best Start
Huron County is pleased to report
128 spots have been created for the
Best Start program designed to
benefit preschool children.
Officials noted .the provincial
government asked that 110 spots be
created. By surpassing the request,
the county has solidified its funding
for the foreseeable future.
In contrast, lower -tier
governments unable to meet
ministry targets will see funds
clawed back.
Cross-border billing
Council heard gains are being
made among counties on the cross-
border ambulance billing issue.
Warden Rob Morley reported
recently collecting a nearly
$190,000 cheque from Bruce
County.
Nearly $300,000 has also been
