Local runners got a preview
of the Huron -Perth trail dur-
ing a recent invitational run
at St. Anne's.
The Clinton school hosted a
Sept. 28 meet in preparation
for the Oct. 17 Huron -Perth
finals.
St. Anne's teams dominated
many races, claiming top hon-
ours as a school in four of the
six divisions — midget girls,
junior girls, junior boys , and
senior boys.
Carly Winters and Jory Uyl
won. first place in the midget
and junior girls races, respec-
tively.
The top three finishers in
the junior boys race were all
Eagles. Matt Boven was first,
Dean Reynolds was second
and Michael Hogan was
third.
Chris deVries won first
place for the senior boys.
Coach Baird Robinson
praised his runners. So far
this season, the midget girls
have won the University of
Western Ontario meet and
the junior boys have won the
Fanshawe Park meet.
"The junior boys team is
ranked fourth in the province
and first in WOSSAA," he
commented.
"Our midget girls and
senior boys are both ranked
fourth in WOSSAA and the
junior girls should be able to
climb into the rankings in the
next few weeks."
Central Huron Secondary
School (CHSS) coach Cindy
Carter is also pleased with
how the season, her first at
the school, is going.
CHSS had five top 10 fin-
ishes in the September meet,
including one first by midget
boys runner Jon Shepherd.
Carter is hoping at least
two of the school's teams will
qualify for WOSSAA.
Huron -Perth races will begin
at 1 p.m. next Tuesday on the
St. Anne's course.
