News Jeff Heuchert photo Huron East Clerk -Administrator Jack McLachlan is taken away by Huron OPP officer Shawn McFalls to jail at Suncoast Mali in Goderich, where sup- porters raised $685 to make his bail. Proceeds were split between the Kidney Foundation and Huron County Crime Stoppers. With a goal of $20,000, 40 people were arrested last week in the fundraising effort. Main floor of arena gets liquor licence approval From Page 1 broomball in the evenings. We should know within the next month," said McLachlan during a phone interview. Because the building is licenced at all times, McLachlan said special events licences will no longer be necessary for receptions in the com- munity hall or for dances on the ice surface. But, he added that the licence will not be used to allow spectators at sporting events to drink while sit- ting in the stands. "Never," he said. McLachlan said the arena board still has a year to decide whether to apply to extend the licence outside the arena. Outside arenas that might be licenced include the east side of the parking lot for events such as the tractor draw or the west side out- side the arena doors for smoking areas at dances. McLachlan said the stumbling block is that any outdoor licenced area needs a permanent fence sur- rounding it. The upstairs hall and community room have not been licenced because they are being rented to Rob's Gym. 7 The Huron Expositor • October 11, 2006 Page 3 ROTH DRAINAGE LIMITED Quality Workmanship Since 1948 • Farm Drainage • Excavator & Backhoe Service • Municipal Drainage • No Obligation Quotes • We Install Bruce Tile Call Dennis or Gerald for our 2006 Booking Program.
