Cavan and Egmondville United assist
Iortbside hosts World Wide Communion
This past Sunday was World Wide
Communion hosted by Northside
with Cavan and Egmondville
United Churches assisting.
Servers from Cavan were Gordon
Pryce, Wayne Dolmage and Bud
Eyre. Les Hills was the guest speak-
er.
The Harmony Kings presented
four numbers. Lunch was served fol-
lowing the service.
Next Sunday is Thanksgiving
Sunday. Service at Cavan United
will be at 9:30 a.m. The following
Sunday. is Anniversary Services at
Northside so no services at Cavan.
Sandra Morey, Laurie Dolmage,
Carol Henry and Chris Bruxer
spent a relaxing weekend at a
Bayfield cottage recently.
Carolyn Somerville, Kate
McNichol and Diane McNichol
spent two weeks touring New
Brunswick, Nova Scotia and Prince
Edward Island.
They were in N.B. when the
storm passed so missed that event.
They visited several of the high-
lights of the Martimes including
Cape Breton Island.
Beatrice, Bob and Ruth Campbell
of the Winthrop area, accompanied
by Jeff and Diane Howson and fami-
ly of Blyth, travelled to the
Gravenhurst area where they spent
the weekend at a Howson cottage. It
is a lovely cottage with a beautiful
view of Muskoka Lake. Most of the
visitors went for an enjoyable boat
ride on the lake.
The weather was not the most
cooperative as it was mainly dull.
with intermittent showers.
We also travelled to Huntsville
where we stopped in at a Garden
Centre there. It is owned and oper-
ated by Tim Cantelon, formerly of
the Brucefield area. The decorations
and mums were also fantastic. His
home, which is nearby, was filled
with Christmas items.
The fall colours up there are gor-
geous with many reds and oranges,
mixed in with the yellows. All in all
it was an enjoyable weekend.

despite the day's bus trip to St. Jacobs.
Sunday, Oct. 1 Queensway
Retirement Residence hosted
their "Open Doors" event
with music, clowns, refresh-
ments, door prizes, tours and
information.
Promoted by the Ontario Residential Care
Association, Open Doors is a way for the com-
munity to be more aware of what retirement
residences are all about.
Arnetta Baker and family were gratified by
the wonderful turnout Sunday Oct. 1 for her
90th birthday open house. Friends
and family gathered to help her cel-
ebrate the milestone.
Queensway residents, volunteers
and staff had a great day Thursday,
Sept. 28 when they travelled to St.
Jacobs Farmers Market. The trip
had originally been planned for
Sept. 14 but had been rescheduled.
The fall colours were beautiful,
making the bus ride as much an
event as our destination. Residents
and their assigned volunteers . were
on their own after we arrived, 'free

ber of locations with everyone meet-
ing back at the
bus by 2 p.m.
