Seaforth, Clinton hospitals looking
to share on-call emergency shifts
Susan Hundertmark
11111111•21111111111,
Doctors in Seaforth and Clinton are
looking at ways to share on-call time to
ensure the emergency departments are
covered on weekends at both hosRitals,
says Dr. Dan Rooyakkers, site chief for.
Seaforth Community Hospital.
Rooyakkers brought his concern about
physician burn -out to the Huron -Perth
Healthcare Alliance board recently after
some difficulty over the summer finding
locum support to allow Seaforth doctors to
go on holidays.
"This is an issue affecting every hospital
in the country. In the news this morning,
Kit c h e n e r -
Waterloo hospitals are saying they don't
have enough emergency doctors. We are
looking for ways to cover the issue within
the Alliance," says Rooyakkers.

The Egmondville post office
will reopen Monday, Oct.' 16 at
Seaforth Mini Storage at 30 Mill
Road.
• But, Egmondville residents
may not actually be receiving
their mail there.
The Egmondville community is
being asked to choose between
receiving mail at the Mini
Storage building and community
mailboxes at Elizabeth Park on
Bayfield Street for free delivery
"This is not an either/or
Situation. The community has to
make a choice," says Tom
Creech, 1. •• corporate
communications for Canada Post
in London.
A deadline of Oct, 13 has been
set for residents to state their
preference and the majority will
determine where free delivery of
Egmondville mail will go.
Those who want to keep
receiving their mail in Seaforth
will have to pay a rental fee of
$85 to $130 a year for a postal
box.
Egmondville residents were
informed of the development
recently with a letter from
Canada Post.
The Egmondville post office
closed more than a year ago
when the Egmondville Country
Market closed.
"We've been attempting to find
a location for the past year and
there were few options available.
