Seaforth senior wins silver at Actifest Games
Susan Hundertmark
Less than one second behind the
winner of the gold medal, Joan
Perrie won silver in the 200 -metre
women's prediction swim at the
Actifest Senior Games in
Hamilton which ran
from Aug. 14-16.
"It was very exciting
and a lot of fun," says
Perrie, of Walton.
While 40 athletes
from the Huron -Perth -
Middlesex district com-
peted in the Actifest
games, Perrie was the
only Seaforth-area ath-
lete to compete in the
event which brought
first -place winners from
each district together.
Perrie, Drusilla Leitch and Ethel
Walker came first in the triathlon
event in the local district but the
triathlon was not offered at the
Actifest games this year. It was the
second gold in triathlon for the
three women who won last year in
St. Marys.
Perrie says Walker came second
this year in the predict-
All=1111- ed walk in the district
games.
Other Seaforth `win-
ners at this past year's
District 29 Seniors'
Games include the
team of Harry
Pennings and Edna
Deite winning bronze
in shuffleboard, Ethel
Walker winning silver
in the 3k walk and
Noreen Prout capturing
bronze in C class golf.
Gwen Scott also won gold in the
100m prediction swim, but didn't
• move on to the Actifest games.
