Marching band apologizes
for absence this year
at Seaforth Fall Fair parade
To the Editor,
To: Town of Seaforth and Seaforth
Agricultural Society
On behalf of the Seaforth and District All
Girls Marching Band, we wish to apologize
for the band's absence from the recent
Seaforth Fall Fair parade.
Due to a miscommunication, band orga-
nizers were unaware that. the Seaforth Fair
would be in the first week of school this
year. The new band season began on Sept. 6
with some new faces and empty spaces yet
to be filled.
The beginning of a new season means
learning to perform together after the sum-
mer break, learning new music and outfit-
ting new members. As members attend
schools across Huron County, it was impos-
sible to arrange busing, as well as notify
schools and parents of student absences on
such short notice.
2007 will mark 50 years since George
Hildebrand began directing the "Girls
Trumpet Band." Over the years the group
has had to undergo many changes in order
to reflect the changing community.
With the introduction of a four-year high
school program and the closure of Seaforth
District High School, school -day perfor-
mances have become .impossible to under-
take. While the band tries to accommodate
requests from the community first, unfortu-
nately it is not always possible.
Again, please accept our apologies. We
hope that residents of the Seaforth area con-
tinue to support their. internationally -
renowned band, as it has for the past 50
years.
See you at the Santa Claus parade.
Yours truly,
Charles Kalbleisch, Director
