Vansteelandt family raises close to $i:,'20

their children's partners and in-
laws and now their grandchildren.
"We enjoy the event. It's . our
cause. And, as the family grew, all
the new members were a part of it,"
says Ricki.
While there is no cancer in nine-
year-old Katrina Siebert's family,
she has been running the entire six
miles for the past two years after
learning of Terry Fox's life and
cause.
"She watched the Greatest
Canadian on TV and now Terry Fox
is her hero. After learning about
him, she told me, 'This is what I'm
going to do - run for cancer like
Terry Fox.' I'm quite proud of her,"
says her dad Craig, who biked
alongside his running daughter.
Katrina raised $85 this year.
Seaforth's T.D.-Canada Trust
Bank entered a team in the Terry
Fox Run for the first time this year,
raising $500.

Over the past 25 years, Seaforth
has raised $73,500 in the Terry Fox
Run.
Numbers of participants and the
amount raised increased at this
year's run, walk or bike ride
through Seaforth on Sunday.
Compared to last year's total of
$4,449, $4,570 was raised this year
and compared to last year's 76 par-
ticipants, 97 participated this year.
The family of Ricki Vansteelandt
participated in the run for their
20th year this year, raising close to
$1,200.
They began in 1987 after Ricki
was diagnosed with breast cancer
and have raised more than $1,000
every year. since.
"When I was first diagnosed with
cancer, I didn't think I'd be here in
20 years," said Ricki on Sunday.
Every year, the Vansteelandt fam-
ily gathers to participate -in the run,
with Ricki and Gilbert's children,
Man charged
with dangerous
driving
in Huron East
An 18 -year-old Morris-Turnberry
man was charged with dangerous
driving and possession of a con-
trolled substance with the intent to
sell it after he was stopped by
Huron OPP on Sept. 12 at approxi-
mately 5 p.m.
Police officers report they
observed a 1994 Chevrolet Lumina
travelling over 190 km/h in a 90
km/h zone eastbound on Blyth Road
in Huron East.
Police say the vehicle was being
driven in a reckless manner.
A search of the vehicle located a
quantity of fake marijuana that was
being sold.
The man also faces three counts
of breach of probation.
