nament Sept. 3, sponsored by
the Legion Branch 156 with
11 greens in play.
First place went to Wayne

were third, Lee Ryan and
Carol Carter fourth and Fred
Tilley and Dorothy Mero
sixth.
Bowling in Sarnia Sept. 2
in the Machan Snowball tour-
nament which had to be
called after two games were
Lee Ryan, Fred Tilley and
Carol Carter who placed
ninth. Neil and Donna
Beuerman and Shirley
Schmidt were one -game win-
ners.
Seaforth's Rick Wood and
Bill Robertson and Rob Truax
of St. Marys won the District
Novice championship- Sept. 2
at Goderich and advanced to
the provincial playdowns in
Hanover Sept. 9 but lost to
teams from Midland and
Etobicoke.
Labour Day in Lucknow's
M and M Tournament saw
Rick Wood and Dave Ducklow
walk off with first prize. Lee
Ryan and Brett Finlayson
won three_:. games and third
prize.
Fred Tilley and Erich
Matzold .were two -game win-
ners.
In a mixed trebles tourna-
ment on Sept. 5 in Stratford,
Jack and Marie Muir and
Rose Burgess won first.
A number of men bowlers
travelled to New Hamburg
last Wednesday to their
annual sausage tournament
with Lee Ryan, Fred Tilley
and Tom Phillips among the
prize winners.

Fairmont Club Sept. 9'`saw

Bugler win second and Neil
Beuerman and Jack Muir
fifth.
Locally on Saturday in the
Elmer Murray Memorial
tournament in Clinton, Lee
Ryan and Jeanine Jefferson
won second and Erich and
Joyce Matzold come third.
Rick and Barb Elliott were
two -game winners.
Sunday, Sept. 10 at 2 p.m.
was a two -game eight -end
club tournament with 26
members bowling. The win-
ning team was Jack Muir and
Edna Waddington.
Everyone received a prize
drawn at random followed by
a barbecue of hot dogs and
hamburgers and fresh corn
on the cob.
Sunday, Sept. 17 will be the
Thelma Coombs Memorial
tournament and a good entry
is expected for the event.
The last potluck and social
will be Tuesday, Sept. 19 at 6
p.m. with hosts Isabelle Hunt
and Bill and Marlene
Robertson.

Annual memorial
shoot draws large
number of competitors
to Kippen Gun Club
The 29th annual Kyle -Cooper memorial shoot was
held at the Kippen Gun Club on Sunday Aug. 27.
Eighty-one shooters were on hand for the competi-
tion which saw 100 targets being thrown from the
16 yard line.
Included in the 81 participants were 13 young
shooters under 19 years old.
The list of category winners are as follows:
A class, Robert Wylie 100; B class, Robert King 95;
C Class, Tom Allen 85; D Class, Doug Moore 76;
Veteran, Chuck Krieger 97; Lady, Dianne Wood 97;
Junior, Brad Martin 93; Runner-up, Jake Homuth
88; Sub Junior, Jordan Ritchie 93 and Runner-up,
Dan Butson 92.
High average on 500 targets for the season, Brad
Mann 88 per cent; Runner-up Jody Mosurinjohn 97
per cent and Most Improved Kirk Krieger
This concludes the most successful trap season at
the Kippen Gun Club in its 30 year history.
Skeet season will resume Dec. 2 and continue
throughout the winter on Saturday afternoons.
