The Huron
Townsend descendants gather for afternoon
Rev. John's sermon at
Cavan United Church was
titled "The Real Battle."
Greeters and collectors
were Judy Beuerman and
Francis Hunt. The plan-
ning meeting is on Wed.
Aug. 30 for Cavan.
Ruth and Bob Campbell
travelled to Lions Head
for the weekend where
they attended the Country
and Bluegrass Music
Festival, which is an
annual event.
On Sunday, a Townsend
get-together was held at
the Blyth
Lions
Park.
These are descendants of
Ila Walters (nee
Zbwnsend) and Elmer and
Ray lbwnsend, formerly of
Tuckersmith.
The oldest members pre-
sent were Beatrice
Campbell (Ila's daughter)
aid Thelma Pryce (Ray's
widow). Several events
were held for the numer-
ous children in atten-
dance.

were pre-
sent from
S t .
Thomas, Arthur, London,
Mt. Brydges, Guelph,
Goderich as well as the
local area.
Around 120 people_
enjoyed the afternoon
reminiscing and catching
up on the latest new
arrivals.
The Huron County
Plowing Match was held
recently near Exeter.
Local winners were: senior
champion - Paul Dodds;
junior champ - Brandon
McGavin; senior reserve -
Brian McGavin; junior
reserve - Kevin Haney.
Gordon and Irma Pryce
hosted a Bernard reunion
on Saturday. About 75
attended the event.
It has been several
years since the last one.
Most attending came from
the area but some arrived
from Wawa.

to draw Targe crowds of residents

enjoyed the tea party held Sunday,
Aug. 20 with piping hot tea served
on the good china and delicious
homemade banana loaf. Volunteer
Iva Reid assisted at the program.

Joseph Flynn entertained with key-
board and violin at the retirement
residence family barbecue held
Thursday, Aug. 24 in the courtyard.
The music had toes tapping and
people dancing at the outdoor event.
Fun and Fitness has been draw-
ing a good crowd to the deck where
residents can work out in the open
air whenever weather allows, often
enjoying their morning refresh-
ments outdoors as well.
Volunteer Kay Mock assisted at
the breakfast group Tuesday morn-
ing when ham, eggs, toast and
peaches with coffee and tea. were
prepared while the group of eight

and homemade bread were the
norm.
