News Thirty-eight plowmen compete at 79th The 79th annual Huron County Plowing Match took place Friday, Aug. 25 and this year's hosts were Paul and Cathy Pavkeje and Warden Rob Morley. Thirty-eight plowmen com- peted for various prizes. Junior Champion was Brandon McGavin, of RR 4 Walton, Reserve champion was Kevin Haney, of RR4, Seaforth; and Reserve uron bounty Plowing Match Champion was Brian McGavin, of RR 4, Walton. The Val Lea Farms award for the youngest plow person was presented to Jacob McGavin, of RR4, Walton. The McGavin family award was presented to Paul Dodds, of RR 1, Seaforth. The MGM Townsend. Tire award was presented to Brandon McGavin and Paul Dodds. The best -going plow team was won by John DeKroon of Dublin. Presented with the Warden Award was Kevin Haney. Kevin also was the recipient of the Ross Gordon Memorial award for top crown at the Junior Match which took place Aug. 24. Chosen Queen of the Furrow for 2006-2007 was Mallory Kernighan of the Nile area with first runner-up Keshia Bishop of RR 2, Bluevale. Tristen Caldwell was top plow girl. The Princess competition took place Aug. 29 on Junior Day with Heather Gibson of RR4, Clinton declared the 2006-2007 princess. Over 250 people attended the barbecue, silent and live auction and awards presenta- tion at the end of the day.
