Spark likely the cause of small fire

Department was
called to the home of
Winston and Anne
Powell, at RR 2
Seaforth Friday
afternoon, after a
small portion on the
front of their garage
caught fire.
Seaforth District
Fire Chief Tom
Phillips says the the
fire was most likely
caused from a spark
from a nearby
garbage can, being
used at the time to
burn some papers.

down before we
arrived."
Anne Powell says
she noticed the fire
when she returned
outside to grab a few
more groceries from
her vehicle.
"I looked over and
there was smoke,"
she says, adding that
she quickly found a
bucket, filled it with
water and dowsed
the fire.
"It's just unbeliev-
able," she remarks,
amazed that a small
spark could ignite the
siding of the garage.
