Huron OPP were patrolling Huron East when they clocked a Jeep Cherokee driving at more than double the speed limit. The man is scheduled to attend court in Goderich on Sept. 21. Drivers convicted of travelling more than 50 km/h over the speed limit can lose six points from their licence. - Bill 169, which became effective on March 31, increased fines for speeding 30- 34 km/h over the posted limit and allows longer driver's licence suspensions for persons repeatedly convicted of, speeding 50 km/h over the posted limit. Lou Maloney announces intention • to run for Huron East mayor Susan ' H u n d e r t m a r k A personality conflict with current Huron East Mayor Joe Seili has prompted Seaforth Coun. Lou Maloney to announce his intention to run against Seili for the position of mayor in this fall's municipal election. "I would love to stay on council in Seaforth but I can't sit under the man. So, I chose to run for his position rather than quit," he said Monday. Maloney said he wants to see council run with a better relationship between the mayor and councillors. MLS 1061691 Jud; given a blooming welcome Jeff Heuchert Judgement day arrived for Seaforth last Friday, as the town welcomed the judges for the Communities in Bloom competition, and months of hard work put into beautifying the community, was finally put to the test. The judges were given royal treatment upon their arrival in Seaforth - the last of the judges stops - after visits to communities in British Columbia, Alberta and Manitoba. • Escorted down Main Street in Model T cars and with the Brussels Legion Band performing, the judges were welcomed by a large crowd out front of town hall, where they were officially welcomed by Mayor Joe Seili and introduced to members of the community. "What a welcome," said Lisa Tompkins, one of two judges, shortly after arriving. "It's great to see so many people out and showing support. It's obvious that the community supports this competition." . Tompkins, a Brantford resident, sits on . the National Board for Communities in Bloom and is the National Chairman of the Winter Lights competition.
