County council decides to start
charging interest on overdue accounts
Bob Montgomery
Huron County's director of
Land Ambulance Service says
there has been some move-
ment ori the cross-border
billing issue.
But Huron County council
has still decided to start
charging interest on overdue
accounts.
David Lew told councillors
that officials from Huron,
Grey and Bruce attended a
recent meeting to try and
resolve the issue.
Lew says there was a tenta-
tive issue on how much
money Bruce County owes
Huron. But Lew says the
problem is that Bruce is wait-
ing to get money that it's
owed from Grey.
And Lew says that's the
problem throughout the
province. He says Grey is
waiting for money from
Simcoe County and Simcoe is
owed money from the Greater
Toronto Area.
"I believe that every county
and region in the province
understands exactly where
they stand as far as there's
dollars owed or dollars to be
received and it's a matter of
how they're going to come up
with those numbers for calls,"
Lew told county council.
Lew says that's the stum-
bling block at this point.
Huron has already reached
agreement with Middlesex
and Perth and Lew says dis-
cussions are also taking place
with Lambton.
