Seaforth Sea Lions swim team, with
40 of their over 60 members compet-
ing, won the meet with 345 points
against teams from.: Mitchell, Exeter;
Lucan, Stratford, St. Marys and:
Clinton. Seaforth also won an earlier
meet in Lucan with 307 points.

St. Columban U 18 girls win
North Huron Championship
After going unde-
feated in the regular
season with eight
wins and three ties
the St. Columban
018 girls soccer team
had to put together a
string of four wins to
claim the champi-
onship.
The team, of 21
kirls, played a well
disciplined game to
outscore their oppo-
nents by a total score
of 16-1 in the play-
offs, says coach
Richard Verberne.
After the first two
games on Tuesday
and Wednesday they
were in first place
which advanced them
to the semi-finals
against Wingham on
Thursday.
A strong. effort was
put in by all the girls
and they earned a
decisive victory with
a score of 6-0.
The final game was
Friday night in Blyth
against the home
team. During the reg-
ular season these
teams fought to a tie
and a 1-0 win for the
St. Columban .girls,
so they knew that it
would not be an easy
game.
Blyth took the lead
early in the game
scoring the first goal
which caught St.
Columban off guard.
However St.
Columban fought_
back and with Et -
strong
strong effort man-
aged to take the lead
2-1 before the half.
The fans were
entertained
with a good
second half
with good
scoring
opportuni-
ties by both
sides.
