Warning signs were posted near the fifth and fourth holes at
Seaforth Golf Club after manure was found in the Archibald
Drain.
Signs posted
around fifth hole
after manure spill
From Page 1
Signs were posted warn-
ing anyone in the area
that a manure spill had
occurred and to stay out of
the creek.
Scharfe said it could also
be possible that someone
walking a dog in the wood-
ed area at the back of the
golf course could have
health troubles if the dog
went into the creek.
Scharfe praised the own-
ers of -the Seaforth golf
course for informing their
patrons about the possible
dangers of the spill.
"They were great. They
handed out notes to every
golfer and made sure they
understood what it said.
Some .golf balls are very
expensive but it's not
worth getting sick," she
said.
Co-owner Carolanne
Doig said the spill was
noticed by a few golfers
who reported the smell at
the clubhouse:- She said
she and her brothers
Cameron and Todd felt
they should report it when
the manure spill was trav-
elling down the ditch.
"We know it was proba-
bly an accident but we
want to make sure it
doesn't happen again," she
said.
Doig said the current
spill didn't affect business
much but she's afraid
repeated spills might.
ATV riders trespass on farm
Cattle escaped and dam-
age was caused to a corn-
field after all -terrain vehi-
cle (ATV) riders cut a
fence to a farmer's field
and trespassed on Cardiff
Road in Huron East some-
time between July 27 and
July 28, reports the Huron
OPP.
Police advise that per-
mission from the property
owner must be granted
prior to riding on the trails
that are supervised by the
Ontario Federation of
Snowmobile Clubs in the
winter.
Any violation of this will
result in a charge of tres-
passing and, in this case,
mischief to the property of
the victim, says the Huron
OPP.
