Bus trip to McCully's Hill
Farm highlight of week
Residents of
Queensway
Nursing and
Retirement
Residence are all in
agreement that the bus trip to
McCully' Hill farm in St. Marys for
the Heritage Day events was the
highlight of their week.
Twenty-one people travelled to St.
Marys on Saturday, July 8. They
saw horses working in the fields,
toured the sugar bush production
facilities, went on a hayride, podded
and tasted fresh peas and cherries
and much more.
Auxiliary volunteers Kay Mock
and Edna Dietz assisted staff mem-
bers Julie and Sharon for the day.
Tuesday morning the volunteer
auxiliary met to discuss upcoming
events and state their availability
for various programs.
In the afternoon, Pastor Elly Van
Bergen presided over the memorial
service, honouring the lives of those
residents who have passed away in
the past three months.
Volunteer Donna Smale was in

the beautiful
weather throughout
the week, residents have benefitted
from the morning fun and fitness
program outdoors on the deck.
Thursday afternoon, retirement
residents with director Julie
Grimminck gathered on the patio in
the afternoon for ice cream. they
made both root beer and Orange
Crush floats and sipped the tasty
treats while enjoying the fresh air,
sunshine and visiting.
At suppertime, volunteer Klaus
Van Wieren manned the barbecue
while Eric Kints and his band enter-
tained the Nursing Home residents
who dined outdoors on the patio and
deck area.
The music of Andy Rau, Jim Love,
Phyllis Deichert and Glenn Deichert
drew a good crowd for the
Friendship Friday program in the
Retirement Residence lounge Friday
evening to end a very busy week.

Glanvilles travel to River Valley
What a welcome
rain! Lawns were
starting to look
quite brown and even some corn had
that pointed dry look.
Cathy and Les Glanville recently
travelled to River Valley, which is
north of Sudbury, to attend a recep-
tion for Darryl Christiansen, son of
Ingolf Christiansen, formerly of the
Winthrop area.
Ron Christiansen of Calgary and
Helga Dodds of Salmon Arm also
attended the
reception and
planned to visit
people in the area.
Cathy and Les also visited with
Lyle and Doris Hood who were holi=
daying at a cottage near Haliburton.
Food for thought
A budget helps you to worry
before you spend rather than after-
ward.
