HomeMy WebLinkAboutHuron Expositor, 2006-05-31, Page 25Diners treated to music from Audrey' from Exeter Dining old program Belated Mother's Day was cele- brated at the Seaforth Seniors Dining Out program on Thursday, May 18 at noon. The diners were treated to boneless chicken breasts sim- mered in tomato medley, baked potato with sour cream, veggies and chocolate cake with whipped cream. The crowd thoroughly enjoyed the music of "Lil Audrey" from Exeter. She sang and played her awesome keyboard and led the group in singing while individu- als in the crowd did karaoke. A few took the opportunity to dance as well.. Door prizes were won by Marjorie Lingelbach, Laird Finlayson, Bertha Taylor, Grace Corbett and Zelda Bannerman. Share the wealth winners were Hazel Hildebrand, Zelda Bannerman, Beatrice Stoll, Faye Dalrymple, Charlie Perkins, Dodie Foster, Betty Hulley and Marie Johnston. Our next Seaforth and Area Dining Out program will be on Thursday, June 15 at noon fea- turing crunchie perch. Guest speaker will be Gail Huber. Cost is $8. Correspondence Bluewater Tug -of -War Club hosting competition The Hensall Spring Fair will be held on Saturday, June 10 at the Hensall Community Centre. The Bluewater Tug -of -War Club will be hosting a senior elementary school tug-of-war competition with a guest team. Competition begins at 1 p.m. There will also be food, a kids' midway, animals, clowns, a mini tractor pull, Tinker Tots Nursery School activities, and much more. Admission is free, please bring a non-perishable food item. Activities begin at 11 a.m. with the talent show in the auditorium. After the talent show, the ambas- sador competition will begin. Young people interested in the ambassador competition or talent show should contact Artemysia Fragiskatos at 262-3544. The prince and princess of the fair will be chosen by random draw after the ambassador competition. Registration for the kids' mini tractor pull begins at 12:45 p.m. in the auditorium. There will be a special animal dis- play at the "Old McDonald's Farm" area. The Hensall United Church youth groups will be presenting a Homestyle Family Dinner from 4 to 6 p.m. Susan Hundertmark photo Margaret Ungarian, treasurer of the Legion Ladies' Auxiliary and Anne Wood, Legion president, present a cheque for $3,516.50 to Lions Club president Bill Teall and Bob Beuttenmiller for the Lions Pool renovations. The money was raised at this year's Mother's Day dinner at the Legion. Tickets are $10 per person and children's tickets will also be available. Entertainment will be by Ann and Eugene Hartman. At Carmel Presbyterian Church, a large crowd met to celebrate the 158th anniversary. Rev Nicholas Vandermey was guest minister and also conducted communion assisted by Robert Bell, Al Hoggarth, Harry. Moir, and Frank Varley. Joyce Pepper and Dorothy Taylor were the musicians. The Tinker Tots Nursery School with their teacher. Linda Marten sang several songs. Special guests for this service were the Tinker Tots parents and Hensall United Church people.
