A sound described as a fusion of rock, punk and reggae, Gerard says it has "that danceable feel to it... underlying beat." Bastid Sonz incorporate their blue-collar working existence into their songs. "Right now we're still doing the 9 to 5 in order to support ourselves," says Gerard, adding they were "pay- ing homage to that." Although he says they know the day jobs allow for buying equipment and other necessities, there's a downfall when looking to make a career out of entertaining. "You'renot always able to jump :in your car and head off to (a certain) place at the last minute," he says. "You cantell the role that it plays certainly when you listen to the new stuff." The guys planned to finish the tentatively titled "Round Two" sometime in June but decided to keep on working, adding new mater- ial. "You get hit with a bunch of new ideas that would also work well with the old ones," he explains. According to their ,bio "with songs about survival, hard times and com- ing to terms, the band offers a unique perspective in an otherwise angst -ridden rock universe." It's a perspective that can be glimpsed at one of their upcoming shows, including the one in the Bend May 26.
