The bridge boxes for the three bridges in Seaforth at the east end of Highway 8 by Lions Park, at the Seaforth Industrial P&rk and at the south edge of Egmondville, have been plant- ed. "We're hoping to put them up in time for the com- munity garage sale weekend at the beginning of June," says Barb Dalrymple, of Huron East. As well, plans are in the works to give Victoria Park a facelift, especially around the bandshell and the cenotaph. "We're taking out the low groundcover and shrubs and putting in new flower beds. Our master gardeners are helping us choose flowers that do well in the shade," she says. The Legion Cindy Bos, of RR 5 Clinton and Kim Sweeney, of Brucefield, both of Plant Paradise in Vanastra, help to plant the bridge boxes to be used in Seaforth during the Communities in Bloom competition. "People coming into town will see the boule- vard gardens and say, "Wow" at the splash of colour," she says. Signs at the town entrances are still being spruced up, with north and south signs receiving new paint jobs and east and west signs getting expanded flowerbeds. The Seaforth BIA is planning a garden tour in conjunction with the Seaforth Horticultural Society as part of the Communities in Bloom competition. "They haven't picked out the gardens that will be featured yet," says Dalrymple. She's happy to report that Seaforth home- owners are beginning to call the municipality to double check the colours that will be used for Communities in Bloom. Residentsare being asked to use red, white, fuschia, lime green and yellow in their planti ngs this year. By Susan Hundertmark ladies will be helping to plant the gardens at the ceno- taph once the ground is prepared. Also, the bandshell will get some fresh paint. Boulevard gardens between the sidewalks and the road are being planned on both Main Street North and Goderich Street West. Dalrymple says she's still looking for students to contribute volunteer hours to planting the boulevard gardens which the four property owners have agreed to maintain once they're planted.
