will greatly help with recruitment
and retention of medical staff and
ultimately mean better service for
people who depend on the Alliance
hospitals.
"Boy, he's gone to bat for us," he
said of Mr. Wilkinson's efforts in
obtaining the funding.
"It's a great day for the people
who depend on the services of the
Alliance," he said.
The funds will place the Alliance
in a balanced budget position for fis-
cal 2005-06 and has allowed for the
signing of an. accountability agree-
ment between the hospital group

cutting scenarios caused a huge out-
cry in Seaforth, drawing 400 to a
public meeting. A number of bed
cuts across the four hospitals in the
Alliance helped reduce the budget
to the $5.5 million range.
"It (the deficit) has been a cloud
over us. This is a very strong mes-
sage that the province is comfort-
able with the direction the Alliance
is going," said Williams in a phone
interview afterwards.
"Our rural communities depend
on our hospitals," said Huron -Bruce
MPP Carol Mitchell in a press
release. "In approving the Alliance
for these additional funds, the gov-
ernment has acknowledged the
tremendous work everyone is doing
within the system."
She said the funding also recog=
nizes the strides the Alliance has
made since its inception.
"Our commitment to working
together, to integration and to
improving patient access to high
quality healthcare services, have all
contributed to the government's
confidence in the Huron Perth
Healthcare Alliance," said Mitchell..
