"It would be a shame to lose the program. It's very worthwhile but it needs some new blood," she says. Because many of the leaders are parents whose children have outgrown Scouts, the Scouts need at least two new leaders in September. The organization also needs at least one more Beaver leader and new members in its group com- mittee including a chair, secretary and registrar. "That would be a bare minimum," says Shobbrook, who says two wo Cub leaders and one Beaver leader are stays involved next year. Because registration has been decreasing over the past few years both in Seaforth and Clinton, the Scouts of both towns joined together two years ago and began meeting at the Hullett Wildlife Area, jokingly calling themselves the Schullett Scouts to combine Seaforth, Clinton and Hullett. In 2004/05, six Scouts from Clinton joined the Seaforth troupe but none from Clinton signed up in 2005/06. Shobbrook says the rising costs of - registration and the variety of activities available for children is also affecting registration. It costs $125 to join Scouts, Cubs or Beavers each year and $90 for leaders. Anyone interested in getting involved is asked to call Terri Shobbrook at 519-527-0113.
