More than 20 events scheduled for 2006 Seniors'
Games across Huron, Perth and Middlesex Counties

Seniors are sure to be the most
active group in the area come this
spring.
More than 20 events are sched-
uled for the 2006 Ontario Seniors'
Games, beginning with solo on May
8 at the Dashwood Community
Centre.
Senior Games representatives
Velma Preszcator says the games
are a great reason to get out of the
house.
"It keeps them active and it gives
them something to do," she says.
Last year, around 900 seniors
competed in the games from District
29, which includes Huron, Perth
and Middlesex Counties.
In Ontario, over 20,000 seniors
participate in the events.
Events include crokinole May 11
at the Seaforth Legion, darts May
15 at Legion Hall in Parkhill, ten
pin' bowling May 16 at Fleetway 40
in London and cribbage May 17 at
the Londesboro Community Hall.
Shuffleboard is scheduled for May
23 at the Mitchell Arena, three kilo-
metre walking and 1.6 km walking
for seniors over 75 years of age May
24 at Maitland Trails in Goderich,
bid euchre May 25 at the Fair
Board Building in Glencoe and con-
tract bridge May 29 at the St.
Marys Community Centre.
Other events include carpet bowl-
ing May 30 at the Mitchell Arena,
snooker May 30 at the Strathroy
Seniors Centre, duplicate bridge
May 31 at the Stratford Kiwanis
Centre and pepper May 3.1 in
Exeter.
On June 1 lawn bowling will take
place at the Stratford Lawn
Bowling club, bocce June 5 at St.
Mary's Friendship Centre, golf June
6 at the Clinton Woodland Links
and swimming June 7 at the
Vanastra- Recreation Centre.
A triathlon is scheduled for June 8
at the St. Mary's trail, tennis June 8
in Exeter, coed slo-pitch June 9 at
the Pack ham Road Complex in
Stratford and euchre June 15 at the
Lucan Community Centre.
The awards banquet will be held
June 15 at the Exeter Community
Centre.
First place winners in selected
events at the district level will
advance to the Actifest events in
Hamilton in August.
Actifest involves all of Ontario's 40
districts.
Last year there were 38 Seaforth-
area competitors in the district
games.
Olave Little, of Seaforth, came
first in the c -level golf event, Joan
Perrie, of Walton, came first in the
predicted walking and predicted
swimming events and was part of
the three-member triathlon team
with Ethel Walker and Drusilla
Leitch and Ethel Walker, of
Brucefield, came third in the walk-
ing event.
They all advanced to the regional
Seniors' Games held in Windsor last
August, where Perrie won the gold
medal in the predicted walking.

pate in the games must contact
