Seaforth T win cI i�. in Mississauga Jeff 11euchert The Seaforth Tykes finished the season in style this past weekend by winning the class A champi- onship at the Mississauga Ice Dogs AAA tournament. The Tykes started off the tourna- ment Friday night with a close 5-4 loss to the Oakville Gold Uplanders. Coach Ron Pryce accounts the loss to just some early tournament jit- ters. "They were nervous going into the big city, and on the ice they were a bit on their heels," he says. But, those jitters didn't last long, and the game would be the Tykes' only loss in thetournament. They went on to defeat the' Oakville Black Impalas, the Applewood Coyotes and the Oakville Epicas in the semi-finals. "They played exceptional. And as good as they were playing up to that point, it was Oakville that had a two goal lead after the first period. - , "At that point we just cracked the whip," says Pryce. "When they got that first goal back (in the second period) they just took off from there." After two periods the game was tied at two goals apiece. In the third, the Tykes kept the pressure on, scoring three goals and allowing only one. The Tykes' offence was prolific throughout the tournament, dou- bling their goals against, by netting 36 goals in only five games. "We figured we'd be - up against some big teams in the city. But we had so much depth with three strong lines. They just all did excel- lent." . "We're certainly proud of them," says Pryce.
