To those individuals and companies who provided and/or drove the tractors, and who organihed the rally, thank you. To those who went to- Toronto, thanks for setting aside personal plans for the day, and a -huge thanks for all the donations we have received to cover the costs of the buses. Please continue to send your positive mes- sages to Steve Webster as he continues his presence at Queen's Park. We encourage everyone to please phone, fax, email your concerns to friends and the local MP and MPP. Encourage them to lobby in the best interests of their rural people. Our government needs to understand that an investment equivalent to the cost of one cup of coffee, per week, per each Ontarian would support the extra agricultural needs in Ontario. On April 5, we will be heading to Ottawa for a "Solidarity Rally." Book your place on a bus by calling 482-9642 or 1-800-511-1135. Nick Whyte Huron County Federation of Agriculture Close to $3,000 spent on magnets questioned at council Susan Hundertmark The close to $3,000 spent on 3,000 fridge mag- nets promoting Seaforth's participation in Communities in Bloom was questioned at Huron East's March 21 meeting. "We all got one and they're all very nice but $3,000 is a lot," said Deputy -Mayor Bernie MacLellan. He added that putting the money towards a tourism kiosk might be a better way to spend money to promote the community. The fridge magnets were included in Huron East tax notices mailed to ratepayers recently. Deputy -Clerk Brad Knight explained that a fridge magnet falling out of the tax bill's envelope was thought to be a good way to get people's attention about the event. "I'm sorry to say that not everyone reads the municipal newsletter," he said. Grey Colin. Mark Beaven defended the expenditure saying that Communities in Bloom is about community pride as much as it is about promoting the town. "We want residents to be well aware Seaforth is participating - $3,000 sounds like a lot but I'm defending the effort," he said. UR RENOVATION AND HOME SPECIALISTS!'
