HomeMy WebLinkAboutHuron Expositor, 2006-03-01, Page 23Correspondence Grade 5 students from St. James School visit with residents for Valentines Day Residents of Maplewood Manor were quite content to stay indoors and watch the great outdoors dur- ing the blustery weather of February. Wiarton Willie's forecast seemed to be questionable. • Church services were enjoyed with Pastor Unwin and Rev. Wilson. Residents also took part in a hymn sing with Virginia Elg. There was lots of music to be enjoyed as we had visits from Carl Carter, Marjory Papple and Bill Gibson. Residents are also enjoying `1<<plel%o)(I Alan( or 11iihtirenlen 114,1►l(6 the in-house entertainment with Elgin Nott, Warren Whitmore and Alec Murray. Grade 5. students from St. James School came to Maplewood to visit their "buddies." Residents enjoyed making a Valentine craft and were very proud to display it in their room. Toes were tapping and hands were Braeckers and family travel to Niagara -on -the -Lake for curling tournament After a blustery Saturday, Sunday morning dawned bright and clear and also quite fresh. Rev. John's sermon was titled "The Old Testament and Christ." The Sunday School sang, "Whisper a Prayer." Greeters and collectors were Brian and Carol Ann Campbell. After the service a tasty soup and sandwich lunch with squares was enjoyed by a good crowd. In charge of the brunch this time was Lori and Mike Goos and Ruth Campbell. Next event of this kind will be March 26. Don and Maja Dodds travelled to Peterborough for the annual meet- ing of the Plowman's Assoc. on Friday evening. On Saturday they returned to Waterloo for the Ont. 4- 1-1 Club annual meeting. Mike and Lori Goos and family spent Saturday in Thedford at a Tykes hockey tourna- ment. Zack Goos is a member of the Seaforth team which brought home the A trophy. Karen and John Braecker and family travelled to Niagara -on -the - Lake this past weekend where Holly was part of a team representing Seaforth Public School in the Tim - Bits Elementary School curling tournament. They reached the semi- finals. Adam Braecker has qualified for the WOSSA championships to be held in 'Ibronto in March. This is a swimming event for all Ontario. The love songs and Valentine treats helped to make the day very special. Challenging games of crokinole and bingo kept residents on their toes. Hands were kept busy doing crafts at our craft sessions, prepar- ing for our bazaar.
