A healthy mind and attitude help you age well
Aging well
isn't only about
a healthy body —
it's about a
healthy mind,
attitude and
social life, too!
Keep your
mind active and
have activities
to keep you busy
every day.
Challenge
your mind by
learning new
things and by
acquiring new
skills.
Sitting in front
of the TV for
hours won't
help. Instead,
think about
doing things like
reading, taking
courses, using
the computer, or
doing crossword
puzzles.
A positive atti-
tude towards life
will take you far.
If you feel your
cup is half
empty, it affects
how you feel and
how others feel
about you.
Are you the
one whose
arthritis is giv-
ing you a hard
time? Or, are
you the one who
takes joy in your
family and
friends?
The Huron
County Health
Unit talks about
the importance
of a positive atti-
tude in the
report Times
Change II:
Talking to
seniors in Huron
County about
their health.
The health
unit interviewed
local seniors and
asked them
their secret to
aging well.

These social
supports are key.
People are pack
animals - we
need each other
to enjoy life. By
finding joy in
friendships,
sharing, trust-
ing, and commu-
nicating, we
benefit.
People you
rely on may be
able to help you
get to appoint-

of your home.
Reach out and

to meaningful
activities.
The report
also talks about
the importance
of meaningful
activity.
The seniors
told about the
need to have
something to do
every day. It
keeps them
healthy.

It helped her

of grief and lone-
liness.
The media is
full of informa-
tion on how to
age successfully.
Most of that
information is
about what to
eat, or how to
exercise.
Remember
that a healthy
body needs a
healthy mind.
Take some
time to watch
the world and
appreciate the
simple joys you
have.
If you do,
you'll experience
life to the fullest
— and the
healthiest!
