Dwayne Feddes' proposal to Rachel was carved in a field
Clinton couple engaged

cooling atop the silo, and
the couple toasted to
their marital plans.
Those plans were creat-
ed 18 months after they
were first introduced
through Dwayne's best
friend, Derrick
Greydanus.
For his part, Dwayne
reports it took him only
an afternoon to carve
out the heartfelt message
and the hardest part of
doing it was not getting
it right — he managed to
do that by simply visual-
izing the message from
atop the silo — it was
getting it done while all
the other family mem-
bers were away so they
would not inadvertently
spill the beans.
Afterward, Dwayne's
sister Jeanette McBeath
climbed the silo to get a
glimpse of his handi-
work and Rachel's dad
saw it care of a flight
overtop of the Cut Line
farm.
The Feddes, who live
on the family farm, mar-
ried March 19, 2005, and
just recently welcomed
their first child, Ethan.
Rachel adds there is
some pressure on
Dwayne's one remaining
unmarried brother, Ken
Jenkins, to top the pro-
posal.
"We get that all the
time," she says.
Rachel is the daughter
of Mark and Joyce
Jenkins. Dwayne is the
son of Al and Kay.
