But that would be inaccurate. In fact, the dairy farmer popped the quintessential question in a field of wheat stubble — much to the delight of then girlfriend Rachel (nee Jenkins). Rachel recalls the proposal, that was delivered on a bright and sunny Nov 22, 2004, was made in what some might consider to be an unlikely spot — namely, on top of a silo. While being perched atop a silo might seem a tad out of the ordinary, Rachel admits she didn't really see the proposal coming because the couple had gone up there before to watch the sunset. "It's a beautiful view up there and he said it would probably be our last chance to see a sunset before the snow started." Indeed, Rachel was so snowed by the pretext of the climb that she did not immediately notice the giant mes- sage, "Will .you marry me Rachel?" scrawled out in the field before her. And Dwayne, true to form, did not try and guide her gaze. "He was playing cool. Eventually I noticed something and then I saw it," she says, noting the effect of the etching in the wheat stubble gave the proposal the appearance of being written in black and gold.
