Chatham and Kent coun- ties — as he• new superintendent of education. Prior to his time at St. Anne's, McMillan spent 20 years teaching with the Avon Maitland board. As the only Catholic secondary school in Huron County, McMillan said St. Anne's is both unique and successful "because students and staff really care about each other." That "positive energy" is what makes .the move to St. Clair some- what bittersweet. "I'm very excited about the oppor- tunity to be a superintendent and use my education. I'm looking for- ward o the challenge," he explained. "But at the same time I'm very connected to the people in this building — the students, staff and parents." McMillan's reappointment result- ed in a shuffling that will see St. Anne's current vice-principal Jodi Kuran become the principal at St. Mary's elementary school in Goderich. But Roehrig and Marcy aren't new to the Clinton school. Marcy taught phys-ed and math at St. Anne's for seven years before she left to become a vice-principal at Stratford -area elementary schools. "I'm looking forward to being back at St. Anne's in a different role," Marcy commented. Roehrig served as the school's vice-principal for three years and acting principal for eight months prior his stint in Goderich. All of the changes will be official as of Feb. 1. "I've never left a position that I've hated and that's a blessing," McMillan said. "Some people want things to stay the same, but I don't think they should. We need to grow, evolve and get better." Looking back on his years at St. Anne's, McMillan quoted his favourite family saying, encourag- ing the school community to "remember who you are." "As a school, remember who you are in the community, who you are to each other and ask yourself how„ can you go forward without jeopar- dizing who you are."
