Vanastra curlers
advance to regionals

The curling playdowns for the
bantam boys and girls for Zone 14
were held recently at Vanastra
Curling Club.
Ten boys' teams representing curl-
ing clubs in Exeter, Listowel,
Palmerston, Ripley, Wingham and
Vanastra competed at the Vanastra
Curling Club to send two winning
teams to the regionals in Paris.
The "A" winners from Palmerston
were Andrew Dickson - skip, Nick
Droog - vice, Shane Konings - sec-
ond and Matthew Dickson - lead,
coached by Don Wilkin.
The two teams from Vanastra
ended up playing against each other
to determine the "B" winner.
The two Vanastra teams were
Brandon Bennett - skip, Matt
Shannon - vice, Brad Lapp - second,
and Eric Radford - lead on one team,
Robert Thompson - skip, Brett
Townsend - vice, Michael Roy - sec-
ond and. Adam Henderson and
Robyn Lobb sharing the lead .posi-
tion on the other team.
The Bennett team won the game
and they will advance to region-
als in Paris as our zone "B" winner.
Seven girls' teams competed at
the Wingham Curling Club with the
Vanastra team of Kendra Falconer -
skip, Dani Reid - vice, Katie
McClinchey - second and Alex Zaple
- lead, winning the "A" to advance to'
the regionals in Paris, Ont. The zone
will also be represented by a team of
girls from Palmerston as our "B"
winners.
