On Dec. 21, her restaurant, Denneny's Grill, opened on Highway 8 in St. Columban. Denneny gained years of experi- ence as a manager for several fast food chains, when living in Milton and Guelph. "I always wanted to do this, and the opportunity finally arose. My bosses would be proud," she jokes. Denneny says her restaurant offers fast, convenient food, such as burgers, sandwiches, salads and soups. "I love to cook and experiment," she says, which she has been doing. On her menu she offers a break- fast croissant, which comes with egg, salsa and cheese. "My patrons are my experi- menters," she says. According to Denneny, the best part so far of owning her own restaurant is socializing with her patrons. Having spent the past eight years as a stay-at-home mom she jokes, "It's nice to talk to some adults." After purchasing the building, the Dennenys put around $20,000 worth of repairs into the building, including new drywall, floors, coun- ters, and kitchen. All of the work was done by her husband, Kevin. `-`He did every single bit of work you see around here," adding that she wouldn't have bought the restaurant if she didn't have some- one to do the work. Denneny says she's happy with her restaurant's progress. "The community has been very supportive. I already have regular customers." Lorraine Denneny Currently Denneny's Grill is opened 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday- Friday, and 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturdays. She plans to begin opening the restaurant. restaurant 0 Sundays, and a cou- ple of nights a week clos- er to the spring or summer.
